The US has put forward an ultimatum to Turkey for the Russian anti-aircraft missile system and C-400
The United States gave Turkey the last two weeks, during which it must abandon the purchase of the Russian S-400 anti-aircraft missile system. They insist that Turkey buy the American complexes. This was reported by CNBC, citing its sources.
According to the TV channel, Washington put an ultimatum to Ankara in which he reported that within two weeks the Turks should abandon the purchase of the Russian S-400 missile defense system and buy an American anti-missile defense system Patriot. The US threatened to exclude Turkey from the program of F-35 aircraft production if Turkey does not fulfill their requirements, thereby depriving it of supplies of one hundred F-35 for the country’s Air Force.
In addition, if the requirement is not met, Washington promises to impose sanctions against Turkey. It is emphasized that this is the “last sentence of the US State Department.”
Turkey in 2017 signed a contract for the purchase in Russia of four C-400 divisions in the amount of $ 2.5 billion. Deliveries of the complex will begin in June of this year.
Ankara says, that despite pressure from NATO countries, it will not abandon from the contract for the purchase in Russia of anti-aircraft system and C-400. NATO countries are afraid of the Russian radar systems will be able to calculate and trace American fighter jets, if Ankara has both C-400 and F-35. Earlier Erdogan, the Turkish President said that Turkey is not planning to integrate the Russian anti-aircraft missile system into NATO air defense system and C-400 do not threaten to American fighters.
